Vancouver to the Rockies  |  August 2009

During August 2009, I spent just over two weeks in Canada with my parents. We flew over to Vancouver where we spent a couple of days exploring the city and its sights, such as Granville Island and Stanley Park.

From Vancouver we hired a campervan and travelled north past the wet, misty mountains around Whistler and then the dry, dusty landscapes around Kamloops up to Mount Robson.

At Mount Robson we're almost at the Icefields Parkway, reputed to be one of the top ten driving roads in the world. Our journey took us south along the Parkway, stopping off at Mount Edith Cavell, the Athabasca Falls and Athabasca Glacier, then down into Banff National Park to Lake Louise and the superlative Moraine Lake.

We took a side tour from Lake Louise, into Yoho and around to the Kootenays before heading onto the town of Banff and finally across to Calgary for our flight home.
